FEATURED VIDEOS

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

Hello,  Kathy Krug & Peggy Timmerman here.  We will be your Hosts and Designers for this week. We look forward to being "wowed" by your creations for this challenge.

Challenge

The challenge this week is Use it or Lose It. When I did my spring cleaning this year, I found several products and tools that I bought but never used, now admit it you have some too. So for this challenge, Peggy and I want you to go through your tools and supplies and choose something you have not used for a long time, rarely used, or never used, and put it to work.  Be sure to tell us what product or tool “came out of hiding” for your project.

This Weeks Sponsor is

Kat Scrappiness

http://KatScrappiness.com

Kat stocks the products that she loves and uses as well as what her customers request.  If you don't see it in her store, feel free to contact her.  She is happy to do special orders for you!  Use the special code when you purchase from her store.

Kathy's Card

For my card I used this beautiful Background Die and these pretty leaves from Kat Scrappiness. This is the first time I have used them.

The products that I found stashed and put to work are double sided adhesive and Prills. For details on how this project came together (with pictures and tips) visit my Blog http://stampwithk.blogspot.com/

Our Second Sponsor is Sparkle N Sprinkle

Be sure to check them out - they have FREE SHIPPING! Their stamps are made in Florida and they make their own awesome glitter!

Peggy's Card

I used Church Sympathy from Sparkle n Sprinkle for this card. This image comes precolored and as a black & white to color.  This card features the pre-colored image.  What I used for my use it or lose it is the background.  I purchased a Minc machine last year and have not used it.  So I foiled this background with the Minc and  mint green foil.  I created another card with the image to color.  You can find more information on my blog, Daily Grace Creations.

Hello, Judy Woodland and Vicki Dutcher here,
and it's time for  a new Mod Squad Challenge.
The Challenge
Our challenge to you is to make a one layer birthday card.

This week our SPONSOR is the wonderful stamp company

  https://www.kitchensinkstamps.com/shop/index.html

Kitchen Sink Stamps offers us a discount CODE: ModSquad15.
These stamps are amazing. Most have a multi-stamp feature that lets you get great detail in your images using several colors. There is real dimension with a 3-D effect! And one of the best features of this stamp company is that there are color recipes for most of the multi-step stamps, so you don't have to guess what colors to use. There are even alternative colors if you don't have the inks that are suggested. Maria from Kitchen Sink Stamps is a member of our Mod Squad Challenge Facebook Group so feel free to say Hi or ask any questions.

THE PRIZE
A $25 GIFT CERTIFICATE to the store.
You can pick your own goodies and there are lots of choices!

Here is a sample for you:
On this card I used the Kitchen Sink Stamp Set 3-Step Butterflies. There are 3 separate stamps used on each butterfly, with each stamp using a progressively darker color.

Happy Wednesday!

Donna Phelan here hosting the Challenge for this week!

Now don't be scared by the title.....give it a try, I think you'll find you LOVE it!

Challenge

Retiform Challenge

Retiform:  :  composed of crossing lines and interstices :

This is achieved by placing down paper (copy paper / post-it-notes) and then sponging ink on to different sections of the card stock, moving the paper as you go, to create colorful little sections.

This Weeks Sponsor is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps
http://cas-ualfridaysstamps.com/

All the stamps and Fri-Dies are designed by Michele , and are based on her love for Clean And Simple design, hence the CAS in CAS-ual. However, they will delight any stamper's style! Whether you are a CAS enthusiast or a lover of Utterly Adorable Layers, you will have a blast getting inky with them.

The stamps are made in the USA of the finest clear photopolymer, and the coordinating line of wafer thin dies are also made in the USA.

2 Prizes

2 - $15 Gift Certificate each to the STORE

My 1st Card

Using inks in Wild Wasabi and Tempting Turquoise I created my retiform lines.  This technique makes little 'windows' of color, perfect for stamping and showcasing images and words. The stamp set is Wonderful Words.  Stamping in Black Licorice ink I just filled in all of the lovely little windows.  Sheer Ribbon for accent.

My 2nd Card

This time using Distress inks in Antique Linen, Peeled Paint and Wild Honey I created my retiform lines.  I used several stamp sets for this card; Casual Comfort, Girlfriend and 3 In A Row.  Inside I used the heart die from  Tic-Tac-Toe.  All images and sentiments stamped in Black Licorice ink.  A little Black and White Gingham Ribbon threaded through a Spellbinders Ribbon Buckle die for accent.

Don't be afraid to try new things....as we used to say to the kids when they were little, take a 'no-thank you bite'.  Try it once and if you don't like it just say, no thank you!
